Avinor Air Navigation Services first in the world to implement second Point Merge arrival route system

This week, Avinor Air Navigation Services has implemented the Southern Norway Airspace Project (SNAP) with Point Merge arrival sequencing to improve capacity and flight safety in airspace in the south-western part of Norway. The implementation makes Avinor Air Navigation Services the first in the world to have implemented a second Point Merge project.

On the 13th of November, Avinor is implementing the largest change in airspace organisation ever in Norway. Changes are done in order to prepare for growth in air traffic, increased safety, efficient operations and less environmental footprints.

Avinor Air Navigation Services has now implemented ADS-B technology to provide Flight Information- and Alerting Services on the Norwegian Continental Shelf. The introduction contributes to increased safety for the thousands of flights that is carried out annually in the area.

4 506 205 passengers travelled through one of Avinor´s airports in August, up 2,2 per cent from august last year. The increase in international traffic was 3,4 per cent, domestic 1,7 per cent.
